(IT Section), Faculty of Medicine

Steps for Submitting Job Requests
¡@
-
Job requests submitted by other means (such
as by telephone calls or e-mails) cannot be guaranteed service.
The MIT(IT) presently has no administrative personnel to record
and prioritize requests and therefore the home page is its only
means for doing so.
¡@
- If your own computer is having problems in accessing
the Internet, please try another computer available in your department.
¡@
- Failing the above, please contact us for the hard-copy of the request form.
¡@
Please note that all requests including advice on purchasing and procedures for changing the password or changing the alias for an E-mail account should also be submitted via the home page.
¡@
Descriptions for your problems should be entered as detailed as
possible. (We have received job requests from some users who just typed
the word "Problem" under the item of "Detail description of
problem".)
¡@
Please don't use the name of senior
staff,
chairman or unit head for submission of job requests to take advantage of obtaining a higher priority, unless you are submitting requests for them. Please understand that it will be unfair
to other staff by doing so.
¡@
- No services will be provided to computers which are
for your home use.
¡@
Please understand that any additional job requests made while we are
in the middle of servicing your department or unit (i.e. in terms of a previously submitted job) would not normally be addressed until later; this is necessary in order for the CSU to meet the needs of all users in order of priority.
¡@
Please refer to the joint agreement between Computer Services
Unit and Technical Services Unit dated 18 July, 1997, if
you are
not sure which unit you should approach for services you
need.
How is your request processed ?
Requests will be assigned to
one of MITs staff, who will start the workbased on the job's
priority. Priority depends on the type of problem and the rank
of the staff member requesting service and will vary from 1 to
15. These priorities to ratings have been approved by the Faculty
Executive. A request receiving a priority 1 will be addressed
within one day. A job with a priority 15 will be addressed within
15 days. The priority of any queued job automatically rises up
by one each day, and at worst the work must be addressed at the
time the job reaches a priority of 1. Regardless of priority,
CSU will contact you as soon as possible to discuss your job.
Please quote your assigned job number for any queries made by
yourself.
