Dear Readers

First of all, we would like to apologize for the late publication of the 7th issue of the Women Companion newsletter. It is due to financial difficulty and getting volunteers in helping translation. Currently, our biggest problem is to do with funding. The Women and AIDS Project sponsored by the Council for the AIDS Trust finished at the end of 1999. As the newsletter has been part of the Project, all the printing and mailing expenses were covered by the Project in the past. Thus, presently, we have to find other funding outlets to sponsor the printing cost. We have applied to the Trust Fund again and hopefully, we shall have good news for our readers in the next issue.

The 13th International AIDS Conference will take place in early July in Durban, South Africa. Sponsored by the Conference Organizers, Miss Elijah Fung, our Centre Manager will be attending the Conference. She will share her experiences in the coming issue.

Finally, one of our dedicated volunteers, Ms. Barbara Clark is leaving Hong Kong by the end of July. She will therefore step down as the newsletter editor for the time being. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for her dedication, commitment and unfailing support towards the Editorial Board and our readers.
