The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, being an umbrella organization of social service agencies in Hong Kong, has been providing training, publications, and education concerning AIDS to the social welfare personnel as well as the public. Besides, service and policy development on AIDS are also the foci of its work.

Focus and Goal of Organization

  1. To provide training courses on AIDS for Social Welfare Personnel.
  2. To develop working guidelines and reference materials on AIDS.
  3. To be involved in formulating policies related to AIDS and Social Services.
  4. To provide member agencies with updated information and knowledge on AIDS and to facilitate related discussion among the Social Welfare Sector.

Services Provided

In the past 2 years, the Council has been actively participating in the campaign against AIDS. The Committee on AIDS which was set up in 1994 provides a forum for representatives from various NGOs to discuss on AIDS issues, service development and agency policy formulation. Also, a series of training, aiming at raising AIDS awareness and acceptance to PWA/HIV, have been providing to social welfare personnel of NGOs and the AIDS Newsletters, with the purpose to disseminate AIDS knowledge, were published regularly since last year.
